The Commonwealth Park Lily Pond renewal project, led by the National Capital Authority (NCA), has been successfully completed. MBS FM was engaged to restore the pond to its original condition and function, addressing the buildup of nutrients, soil, litter, weeds, and debris accumulated over time.

The work involved draining the pond, assessing the floor, and using specialised equipment to remove 3,600 tonnes of silt and vegetation. Environmental consultants tested the material, which was safely repurposed at the Lindsay Prior Arboretum.

Completed ahead of Floriade, the remediation project has enhanced the festival’s surroundings and preserved the pond as a key feature of the park for future visitors.
