MBS FM were appointed to complete a major rectification project at the National Convention Centre to limit and divert water ingress to all three levels of the underground carpark structure. Works included:

  • Band beam spalling repairs including treatment of exposed reinforcing bar

  • Replacement of failed concrete slabs around structural columns

  • 900 lineal meters of slab cracking remediation

  • Ground slab key joints rectification

  • Removal of specified efflorescence – this included surface preparation, chemical removal from the soffit, and application of slab sealing treatment to prevent recurrence

  • Installation 700 lineal meters of guttering to contain ground water ingress to walls of carpark

  • Installation of 800 lineal meters of overhead mesh to soffit areas to prevent impacts of future concrete spalling

Careful planning and complex traffic management ensured the carpark remained operational throughout the works and a staggered work schedule reduced noise impacts on the client as to not affect the operating requirements of the building.
